Omar Lattouf

Omar Lattouf is a senior cardiothoracic surgeon, widely published author, and frequent speaker at national and international cardiology and cardiac surgery conferences.

Dr. Lattouf is currently in clinical practice and a Professor of Surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He received his Doctorate of Philosophy Neuroscience in 1977, and graduated as Doctor of Medicine in 1980. He has been certified by American Board of Thoracic Surgery with over 30 years of experience in complex cardiac procedures.

In 1988 Dr. Lattouf, along with his cardiac colleagues at Emory University, co-performed Georgia's first domino heart transplant, and in 1989 participated in implanting the state's first biventricular assist system. In 2001 he performed the world's first totally endoscopic left ventricular resynchronization.

He is currently engaged in active clinical and laboratory research in stimulated cardiac angiogenesis, minimally invasive endo-cardiac technologies, E-Health, telemedicine, on-line health education and development of digital methods for public cardiovascular risk stratification and reduction. He is also an enthusiastic inventor who holds six US Patents on minimally invasive cardiac procedures and devices.

Dr. Lattouf is focused on promoting global cooperation to expand cardiovascular education, training, and disease prevention. To this end, he serves as the Editor-in-chief of online education programs, and on the boards of several non-profit community educational and charity organizations. He has additionally been an invited and guest speaker at international conferences in over thirty countries across the globe.
