Dan Hyman

Dan Heiman was born in Palestine, which later became the State of Israel. Dan was the youngest son of two German born parents. At the age of two and a half Dan became ill with Polio. Despite this, under the loving watch of his parents and older brother, Dan developed into a regular child. Life in the village allowed for a happy childhood. At twelve Dan was afflicted with yet another serious disease – epilepsy. The disease was not yet understood and it seemed he was a guinea pig for various medical trials. In his late teens he finally met a professor who helped him improve his health.

He met Mardi at 19 and became a father not long after. He studied journalism and worked as a farmer - later becoming a lecturer.

In 1982 Dan began writing about his illness in 1982 and took 34 years to see it in print. Dan's unique style is written through the eyes of a boy with no medical assistance. Dan sends a blessing that there will always be light at the end of the tunnel for anyone struggling with a life low on energy and hope.
