Jodee Prouse

I am a daughter, sister, wife, mom, friend and neighbor. I am just like you. But what many do not know is that I was hiding a painful secret. I am also the daughter, step-daughter, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, niece, great-niece, aunt and cousin to alcoholics. But nothing impacted my life more than when my younger brother Brett became addicted to alcohol. Adding "sister" to the long list that follows my name.

I spent many years obsessed and determined to save him, sacrificing my own job, health, husband and children. Like the millions of people lost in the world of addiction and mental illness I believed at the time I was doing all the right things. But what I have learned through this journey is that we ALL need help.

A sister, still determined but in a healthy way; a promise made to my brother. To tell this powerful and important story in hopes of helping other families. hugs, Jodee
