Nate Pedersen

NATE PEDERSEN is a writer, librarian, and historian in North Mankato, Minnesota. He is the co-author of Quackery: A Brief History of the Worst Ways to Cure Everything (Workman, 2017), Patient Zero: A Curious History of the World’s Worst Diseases (Workman, 2021), and Pseudoscience: An Amusing History of Crackpot Ideas and Why We Love Them (Workman / Hachette, 2025). NPR dubbed Quackery a best science book of 2017. Publishers Weekly gave Patient Zero a starred review and said “Readers will be swept away by this energetic and enlightening survey.” NPR featured Pseudoscience on Morning Edition and Publishers Weekly said "a wry takedown of bogus beliefs, this entertains." Nate's books have been published in 13 languages around the world.

Nate also edited the Lovecraftian anthologies The Starry Wisdom Library: The Catalogue of the Greatest Occult Book Auction of All Time, (PS, 2015) and The Dagon Collection: An Auction Catalogue of Items Recovered in the Federal Raid on Innsmouth, Mass (PS, 2024).
