Robert J. Muller, B.S., MSc., M.D., MBA/MHA, CEM, CFP, CHS, FACFE is a physician with diverse interest, education and experience. He received his undergraduate education with a B. S. in Chemistry and Biology from St. Louis University; he has additional post graduate degrees from Emory University, and business degrees including a certificate and a MBA/MHA from Auburn University. He received his M.D. from Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans.
He has received his Certified Emergency Management Credentials, being one of only twenty in Louisiana, and has completed over ninety certificate courses in emergency management from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. He is a certified Forensic Physician and certified and a Diplomat in Homeland Security and a Fellow of the American College of Forensic Examiners. He has received numerous search and rescue certifications, including being a certified instructor in the Incident Command System (ICS) used internationally by all fire and law enforcement agencies. He is a certified FEMA Level III Incident Commander.
Dr. Muller has extensive teaching experience having taught on all educational levels and is a frequent community lecturer on various topics and has taught in various fire and police academies on a local and federal level. He has given numerous seminars on Hurricane Planning and Business Continuity Planning and Preparation.
He has and/or currently serves as the medical director of numerous fire departments, the New Orleans Police Department, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Department and Southeast Louisiana Search and Rescue as well as the New Orleans Lakefront Airport. He served as a Deputy Chief of the New Orleans Police Department in command of Search and Rescue, Hurricane Preparedness and Special Events. He has served as the deputy director of the St. Tammany Parish Office of Emergency Planning and as a deputy coroner in both Orleans and St. Tammany Parishes. He has served as the Designated Regional Coordinator of the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, incorporating five parishes and 29 hospitals—a position he held during Hurricane Katrina.
Dr. Muller has served as a consultant to a national hospital chain and is president of his own consulting corporation.
