Robin Cunningham

Robin Hugh Cunningham is a retired senior corporate executive officer. He served with large international enterprises in ocean shipping, and air and rail transportation, and has also been involved in commercial and investment banking, venture capital, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. In addition, he was an entrepreneur instrumental in the formation of five new ventures. He accomplished all of this despite the onset of schizophrenia at age 13. During the time of his professional achievements, he lived a lie, not revealing the demons he was fighting. His first memoir is about how that lie began.

After retiring from corporate life at the age of 45, and then again at 58, Robin began a career in advocacy and has been and continues to be involved in many mental health organizations on the state and national levels. Whereas years ago he hid the fact of his schizophrenia, he has since been tireless in working to obliterate the stigma society holds against those with mental illness. He plans to share his journey through his memoir series to let others know that they have a voice and are not alone, and to demonstrate that despite their difficulties people with mental illness can overcome great challenges and live fulfilled lives.
