D G Heath

I was born, David Garrison Heath, on August 10th, 1942. I grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and attended the University of Texas in the 60's. My major was interior design and I minored in marketing. I headed west to Los Angeles in August of 1969, met my life-partner in November of that year and we are still together today.

I held numerous jobs from 1960 to the present: life guard, Latin dance instructor, interior designer, private secretary, lyrics writer, merchandise display director, personal shopper, and innkeeper for 20 years in northern New Mexico.

We built, owned and operated our Country Inn and Restaurant - Rancho de San Juan, northwest of Santa Fe (1994 - 2013.) We were honored to join the international hospitality association of Relais & Chateaux in 1995. My partner, gourmet chef, and former architect, John Johnson, received an award from the James Beard House in NYC (1999), plus numerous other awards of recognition for his culinary skills.

Retiring from hospitality in 2013 we moved to the beautiful colonial city of Merida in the Yucatan where I discovered a passion for writing. I began a memoir about the adventures in my life, which, by-the-way, is still a work in progress; including breakfast with JFK at the Texas Hotel in Ft Worth (Nov. 1963) the same morning he was assassinated in Dallas... to serving dinner to Julia Child at a private house party in LA. where John was the chef.

I have written 3 mysteries which I hope to have published this winter.

Double Martini - Island Web of Intrigue & Codes and Confessions

I'm a mystery and history fan but occasionally enjoy creating a little poetry.

Tales from a Country Inn - The Rancho de San Juan Story is my first published book.

John and I enjoy reading, good food and wine, fun company, symphony concerts, evening walks, ice cream and the sites, sounds, heritage and culture of the Yucatan.
