Sandra C. Greer

Sandra C. Greer is Professor Emerita of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Maryland College Park, and also Professor Emerita of Chemistry at Mills College. Her research career was in the experimental thermodynamics and structure of liquids and solutions.

Dr. Greer grew up in South Carolina and was educated at Furman University (B. S.) and at the University of Chicago (Ph. D.). She was a research chemist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology before moving to academia. She is a fellow of the American Physical Society and of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. She received the 2004 American Chemical Society Francis P. Garvan-John M. Olin Medal and the 2014 American Chemical Society Award for Encouraging Women into Careers in the Chemical Sciences (sponsored by the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation).
