William Shang, M.D., of Cornell University has always been a 'why' sort of guy. Trained like television's Gregory House, a diagnostic physician type known as a pathologist, in the last couple of years, he's taken on a major life project, to change the diabetic epidemic sweeping this country by popularizing an under-recognized, little-known method of strength training. He's on a mission to show patients and doctors alike, how the unsung organ, skeletal muscle can change the course of prediabetes before it takes hold as a disability.
