Manuel’s main activity is working with organizations in the field of business strategy and innovation. He has been involved in consultancy and training for the past twenty years, and in research during the last fifteen years.

As a researcher, his major passion, Manuel has gone through the development of some own theoretical models and the creation of different technological applications that can be used and applied in the business environment. His work focus, mainly, in the study of value and its different forms, which have a strong influence in any business success (ie.: use value, economic value, cultural value, and perception value). His research work is reflected on two books, four international academic papers and several professional articles, published between 2007 and 2012. Still, in the research field, Manuel has conducted several market researches, as prime researcher and coordinator, applying different theoretical concepts, in the areas of business strategy, product innovation, human resources management and education.

As a result of his research, Manuel has developed a technological tool that evaluates (1) value and marketing strategies, in a business environment or in the public administration sphere, (2) product innovation plus value profiling, and (3) economic value added (EVA). This software application has been applied internationally, mainly in Portugal and USA, in over two hundred companies in all economic fields, by different professional partners.

Manuel has conducted several national and transnational projects, as Project Director, in the fields of research, education, business engineering and corporate social responsibility. He has performed over ten thousand hours of qualified training in the disciplines of business strategy, value management and innovation, human resources management, marketing and sales. Manuel is also a guess professor for two universities in Portugal, in two Master programs.

Manuel belonged to several national and international technical committees, such as CEN TC149 (Value Management), ISO TC260 (Human Resources Management), PT TC149 (Value Management), PT TC152 (Human Resources Management) and PT TCA25 (Training and Education). His major achievement in the standardization world is the development of the Portuguese Human Resources Management Standard (NP 4427:2014) that was based on his own research and development work, in his own company at the time.

Manuel is a frequent speaker at national and international academic and professional conferences, presenting new papers and concepts in the fields of his expertise.

Along his professional life, Manuel has worked with several hundred companies, of all sizes, and governmental agencies, in multi-disciplinary projects. He has lived and worked permanently in Portugal and Australia, and worked temporarily in UK, Italy and Ireland.
