Helen Marriott was born in North Yorkshire, England in 1953. Her father was a banker and the family - including Mum; a twin brother; an older brother; a grandfather; dog, hamsters, budgie and tropical fish, moved house five times and by the time she was eighteen Helen had lived in the North, Midlands and South of the country.
Her Nomadic years served her well, for her travels continued under her own steam, as a young adult and Cordon Bleu Chef, living and working in Scotland, Italy and Canada exploring the beautiful countries, their foods and cultures.
While cooking was her ticket to travel Helen's first love had been story telling, even as a very young child she had entertained her friends with tales of adventure and make-believe. An equal passion was a deep curiosity and love of the natural world which developed into a fascination of the Human Condition which in her thirties led to a degree in philosophy.
Helen then discovered the Chinese approach to Mind, Body and Spirit and became a Holistic Therapist; finding a vocation that would carry her through the next three decades. In 2005, when her three children had just about flown the nest, she opened a Holistic Health Hotel in Scarborough, England, where she still resides and is now happily fulfilling a life-long ambition to be an author.
Helen believes that a Reader should be entertained, informed and inspired and her writing is aimed at this approach. She loves to blend non-fiction with 'parables' of fictional characters and anecdotes to illustrate the factual content.
Homo spiritus is a prime example of this technique and she particular wants to attract young adults as well as readers of any age. A queue of books is sitting on the 'back boiler' waiting to be published - including a Trilogy specifically for young adults - a work of fiction packed with adventure yet sprinkled with esoteric knowledge to inform and inspire!
Her next book, however, is called 'Three Worlds' which takes Homo spiritus deeper into the Cosmos in a spaceship called Adventurer and with herself as the Captain; a crazy green-eyed ship's cat and a mysterious Navigator who guides them through time and space and many other dimensions. All being well 'Three Worlds' should be in print late Autumn 2017.
