Susan E. Henninger

Susan Henninger grew up in Rochester, New York and maintains strong ties to the Finger Lakes Region.

A transfer student herself (College of Wooster to Cornell University) she earned a bachelor’s degree in social work and her MSW at Boston University. As a licensed social worker, she worked with many diverse families in challenging situations.

She has three sons, all college graduates and currently employed! During their K-12 years she volunteered at their various schools and she continued to be a supportive sounding board throughout their college years.

In 2007 she became a full-time freelance writer. Since then, she has written hundreds of articles about education and parenting and is the recipient of both the Cap Creal Journalism Award for Printed Series (2017) and a Parenting Media Association Gold Award (2016). She is also a member of Education Writers Association and the Association of Writing & Writing Programs.

She and her husband currently enjoy spending time with friends and family at their house on Seneca Lake, traveling, and finally being free of student loan payments! Learn more at SueHenninger.com
