Aline LaForge

Born in the 1950's and raised in Southern California in the 1960's, Aline LaForge knew early on that city life was not for her. She moved to Oregon, lived off-the-grid, and worked on cattle ranches while she earned her BS in Geography. After graduating, LaForge spent over twenty-five years working as an archaeologist in the American Southwest. She taught Anthropology and Geography at community colleges in Arizona, and pursued her interest in the relationship between Native plants and people. Her professional writing focused on cultural heritage and interpreting sites for the public. Ready for a career change, LaForge studied Chinese energy healing and acupressure, became a Licensed Massage Therapist, and started her own business. The pursuit of traditional healing arts led her to the slopes of Haleakala on Maui where she dreamed the magical tale of Hooked by the Stars. In the process of planning her debut novel LaForge explored a new skill set, book design and self-publishing. She founded Wise Bird Books LLC, and provides advice, encouragement, and publishing services to indie authors.
