Dr Anneli Haake is a Swedish language teacher, an author and a Language Teacher Rebel. She is a native Swede and lived and studied in Sweden until her mid-20’s, when she moved to Great Britain.
Beyond setting up and running a successful online Swedish school (Swedish Made Easy), where she helps Swedish language students to improve their Swedish, revise for Swedish language exams, and prepare them for moving to Sweden, and writing a course book (Teach Yourself Complete Swedish), she has translated a number of books and articles for Swedish universities, worked as a Swedish subtitler for films, and as a language tutor at Middlesex University for its BA Interpreting and Translation students.
She is particularly interested in the musical aspect of language (which led her to a PhD in music psychology) and has a teaching degree from Sheffield University in the UK. She is also an examiner for the SWEDEX (Swedish language proficiency test) and is one of the creators of the online course Speak Like a Swede (shortlisted at the Digital Education Awards 2020). She has been featured in numerous media outlets, including the BBC and The Guardian, and worked with organisations such as Örebro University, Lund University, Jönköping University and STIM, as well as large multi-nationals including Abercrombie & Fitch, E-ON and Spotify and various language agencies.
When she is not being a Language Teacher Rebel, she makes music (in the music project Janis), travels when she can, and boards dogs with her husband.
