With a Swedish name and heritage, Elva, whose taste for adventure may have come
from her Viking blood, has always loved travel.
She was born on January 1, 1930, raised by adoring parents as an only child in
Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Her parents introduced her to the joy of traveling, and always included her on their
many auto trips around the United States. (Foreign travel was not advisable during the
second World War.)
Majoring in Art Education at the University of Minnesota stimulated her love of the arts
and the beauty of nature. After marriage and the birth of two daughters, her husbandʼs
business transfers opened new vistas for her family, from New York, to New England, to
Texas.
A woman of many talents, she is an artist, writer, photographer, interior designer,
seamstress, national master flower show judge, Ikebana student and teacher, gala
decoration consultant, travel agent, tour designer and leader, as well as, pet lover,
cookie baker, wife and mother. Meeting new people, visiting new places, taking on the
challenges of the open road, and being always willing to take that “First Step” have
enriched her life.
