Robert Bourges

Robert Bourges alias T-Bear was born a few months before the invasion of France by the Germans in 1940. He is a survivor of all the epidemics that followed the war and then from his adolescence he became indestructible. At the age of 29, he left France with his wife and 2 children to emigrate to Quebec.

He spent all the 70s in James Bay in the Far North of Quebec in geological exploration. He lived there for 7 years in tents, summer and winter, before joining the electric dam sites. It was also in Matagami, the last mining village before nothing, that his 3rd and last son was born in 1972. He had as companions teams from Algonquin from the Cree tribe who taught him a lot. They are the first to give Robert his nickname of T-Bear, T for Teddy and Bear for bear in English.

Returned to civilization in 1981 due to family emergency, he had to raise his 3 children alone in Montreal and therefore put an end to his life as a woodman. Having become sedentary, he explored political and educational circles. He remarried in 1992.

He retired from education in 1997.

In the year 2000 they sold all their possessions and set off wandering across the United States from camping to camping in a fifth wheel trailer. They established their 2 to 3 month hibernation campsite in Mexico Beach, Florida, where he distinguished himself by painting a fresco.

After these 5 years of mopping, they left America for a temporary return to France during Graulhet in the Tarn where he realized his dream of opening a public painter's studio. Back in Quebec at the start of 2011, he traded the brush for the pen, writing novels, tales and poems.
