David is an educator, engineer, and veteran with a passion for getting kids interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. He has worked with over 5,000 youths while running a Department of Defence STEM program, sharing with them the fun and excitement of STEM activities. He also has over 20 years experience working for the federal government, refineries, and chemical plants as a mechanical engineer. In 2017 he started KidsSci Inc. which is dedicated to showing kids the awesomeness of science and math.
Crush Your Math Fear! is his first book in a series on STEM activities. Even though little David was “one of those smart kids” (not a cool thing back in the 70’s) he struggled with math at a young age. This is the book he wished he had when he was young, and it’s his sincere desire this book finds its way into the hands of kids like he was and teachers and parents interested in math but not finding the right resources
His second book, Alphamaticals, isn't exactly kids play. Alphamaticals are very challenging two-in-one word and math logic puzzles guaranteed to rack most people's brains. You first have to figure out what the missing letters are in a collection of idioms and common expressions and then find the arithmetic problems each phrase can represent. There are puzzles easy enough for kids and some almost too hard for anybody to solve. The good news is working out your brain with logic puzzles like Alphamaticals is a scientifically proven way to keep your brain young and healthy and stave of Alzheimer's.
Look for David's next KidsSci book in the coming months, STEM Logic Puzzles for Kids, with over 200 pages of original word jumbles, visual sudoku puzzles (SymDoku & AlphaDoku), STEM themed crosswords and word searches, and a variety of number and logic puzzles.
