Jonathan Harries

Jonathan Harries grew up in Namibia, a wild and striking country where the desert meets the sea and wildlife is part of everyday life. After moving to South Africa in his early teens, he began a career in advertising, eventually rising to become Chairman of FCB, a global agency.

In 1986 he relocated to the United States, where he still lives today. Following his retirement, he turned a lifelong love of storytelling into a second career as a novelist. His books combine history, imagination, and dark humor, shaped by his curiosity about people, improbable events, and the strange ways the past influences the present. His first novel, Killing Harry Bones, marked the beginning of that journey.

Alongside writing, Harries has remained deeply committed to wildlife conservation. He and his wife travel on safari whenever possible, returning with memories rather than trophies. Profits from his books are donated to animal charities, helping raise awareness about poaching and animal trafficking.

He writes every morning, wherever he happens to be, and hopes his stories give readers both a good laugh and something to think about.
