Ginger L Franklin, PhD

Ginger is a dedicated educator, author, and humanitarian with a passion for religious studies, border and migration literature, and ESL instruction. Although she dropped out of the 9th grade, she now holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Religious Studies, a Master of Arts in English with an emphasis in Border and Migration Literature, and a Bachelor of Science in Religious Studies. Currently serving as a Case Manager for Afghan Allies, Ginger has a wealth of experience working with refugee and immigrant populations. She has held positions at the International Rescue Committee and various educational institutions, including GateWay Community College, Perryville State Prison, and Eastern New Mexico University. Ginger's commitment to the cause is evident in her volunteer work with organizations such as UNHCR and Lutheran Social Services. As an accomplished author, Ginger's publications delve into themes of displacement, identity, and the human experience. Her notable works include "The Politics of Leaving: A Firsthand Account of the Afghan Evacuation," "575: Haiku Every Day," "Terra Llantera: Placemaking and Finding Home in the Borderlands," and "India Lately." She is active in community service, including her recent work with Matthew House and her leadership role in Refugee Education Days in Washington, DC.
