Marcus J. King is an author and storyteller who believes that some of the most powerful stories reside in the complex spaces between love, truth, identity, pain, desire, and transformation.

Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, Marcus discovered the freedom of storytelling long before he imagined becoming a published author. As a child navigating bullying, isolation, and a world in which he often struggled to fully express himself, he found something extraordinary in a simple notebook and pen: freedom.

Writing became more than an escape. It became a place where there were no limitations on who he could be, what he could imagine, or the worlds he could create.

What began with stories written in middle school eventually grew into a lifelong passion for storytelling. Marcus later pursued studies in screenwriting and fiction writing while exploring different forms of creative expression, including poetry, blogging, digital entertainment, character performance, and independent publishing.

Those experiences helped shape the writer he would become.

Today, Marcus creates emotionally layered stories about imperfect people navigating complicated relationships, hidden truths, difficult choices, identity, friendship, desire, heartbreak, and the unexpected ways life can change us.

His fiction often carries a hint of truth wrapped in fiction, drawing inspiration from human experiences, observations, conversations, and the emotional realities people don't always say aloud.

Through works including the Love Under Series, Marcus invites readers into worlds where characters can make you laugh, frustrate you, surprise you, break your heart, and occasionally remind you of someone you've known—or perhaps even yourself.
