Johanna Jackson

Born in Beckenham, Kent, the first child of 1960s parents, I grew up in difficult environments. But, due to a good grounding from my very early childhood, I worked hard at school to achieve the best results I could, before leaving home at the innocent and very naïve age of 16. Moving from North Wales back to London, meant life was still tough and I made plenty of mistakes as I continued to move from pillar to post. My ‘University’ was the one of ‘real life’.

I would describe myself as having lived a full and eventful life, one which has taken me on many journeys, some happy, some sad, and to many different towns and villages. Along the way, I have met and been inspired by people from a world of varied backgrounds, cultures and beliefs. The majority of those people enriched my life in their own unique ways; sharing interesting stories and their own experiences with me. All of this enrichment, has enabled me to draw on descriptions of events and create characters for my books, who could be like any one of us; normal, down to earth people, with all the usual foibles, flaws and positive characteristics that we, as human beings, have within us. I like my characters to feel real and so far, feedback has proven that I am on the right road, with reviewers commenting on how the characters are so like them and their friends, that they can really relate to them. Some even want to visit Giovanni’s Restaurant, which unfortunately, is only fiction!

As for me now, I feel very fortunate to finally be living by the sea; writing, walking and spending quality time with family and friends. As a writer, I find the sea-views particularly calming for my spirit, yet the coastal walks are exhilarating, all at the same time. Living where I do, inspires me to enjoy life and keep writing, which is my dream!

UPDATE: When we asked Johanna why she had re-launched her first book, she explained that following feedback, moving to Bude, and now writing her third book, she has decided to develop a fresh, brightly coloured, themed look for her books. Johanna wanted covers that appealed and intrigued her readers into wanting to know more, whilst also giving them a recognisable style. But, to ensure readers know which one is a second edition, the back cover of 'Love Twists as Life Turns' also carries a note to advise the previous title of 'Casey's Online Diary' - and if anyone has a first edition, we reckon it could be worth more money in years to come, particularly if it has been signed by the author!
