David Tavares

David Tavares is an 8th degree black belt in Chinese Kempo/8th degree black belt in Ordonez Kajukenbo Ohana. He began his martial arts training in June 1971 at the Godin's School of Self-Defense Pearl City, Hawaii. He served three years in the United States Army as a Combat Engineer in the 1st Cav Division 8th Engineer Battalion Fort Hood, Texas 1979-1982.

1998 Shaolin Kung Fu Championships continuous fighting Champion (Chinatown, Hawaii)

Writer of DVD "What is Chinese Kempo"

Fought in a pro MMA bout in 2008 at age 47 in Tokyo, Japan on the Submission Arts Wrestling Japan vs. Hawaii fight card

Received his 5th degree from Professor Godin in July 2001

Received his 8th degree from Kajukenbo Co-founder Frank Ordonez in January 2012

Retired Oil Refinery Mechanic 25 years 1991-2017

Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Hawaii

Lives in Makakilo Heights, on the island of Oahu

Has a daughter and three grand children

Has a Basenji dog named Bruce Lee
