Alexis Dent

Alexis Dent is an essayist, poet, and author from Buffalo, NY. Having developed a passion for writing during early childhood, Alexis' love of sharing poignant, humorous, and relatable stories began at a young age. Her love of writing continued through adulthood; Alexis attended Ithaca College and graduated magna cum laude with an Integrated Marketing Communications degree. After working in managerial marketing roles for a few years and avidly writing on the side, Alexis decided to take the leap and pursue writing as a career.

Because of her aptitude in marketing herself and her natural knack for story telling, Alexis quickly developed a career as freelancer, scoring major bylines within her first year writing professionally. Alexis' writing can be found online in national publications such as Washington Post, SELF, Marie Claire, BRIDES, On She Goes, Greatist, and more. Her debut collection of poems and essays, Everything I Left Behind, was released in August 2017.

When Alexis isn't writing, she is probably watching Bravo marathons, eating a burrito, and simultaneously hanging out with her little dog, Giant.
