J. Michael Kent

Michael Kent was born in Van Buren, Arkansas. His passion for reading and story-telling came from his mother who would only rarely be found not reading the latest novel. The son of a preacher, Michael’s family lived in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Illinois, North Dakota and Florida. Michael studied history and education at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma and moved to Oklahoma City after graduating.

A certified scuba diver, Michael explored the depths of Oklahoma’s clear Lake Tenkiller and the reefs off the Keys and Bahamas. He returned to Arkansas in 1984 and started a family. Immersed in the history and land of western Arkansas, Michael developed a keen eye for the characters and lives of those raised along the borderlands of the Ozarks of Arkansas and Green Country in Oklahoma.
