John Henry Hepp IV

John Hepp was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania, in 1959 and has spent most of his life in sleepy Bala Cynwyd in suburban Philadelphia. After graduation from Temple and Penn Law School, he practiced law with the Dechert firm before obtaining his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has taught at Wilkes University since 1999 (for UK readers, yes, it is named after that John Wilkes). John loves researching, discussing and writing about how members of the middle classes reacted to the sweeping technological and economic changes from about 1600 to the present from a global perspective and how these reactions helped shape their world view. His current project looks at the development of international law and its institutions from about 1800 through 1945 and considers how war defines our notions of peace.
