Jeff S. Wagner

Jeff Wagner has spent his life putting words on paper—in one form or another. Before retiring in 2023, Jeff spent more than 30 years as a Technical Writer. His writing career actually began in college, where he studied Journalism with dreams of becoming a sports writer. Life had other plans. Instead, Jeff spent the first ten years of his professional writing career in the video game industry, writing the user manuals that accompanied the games. He eventually moved into technical writing, where he spent the next two decades-plus explaining complicated things in ways that people could actually understand—a skill that has served him well as an author.

As a native of California’s Bay Area, Jeff's lifelong love of Bay Area sports has found its way into ten of his books. And his sports allegiance may be one of the last of its kind. He has remained a fan of the San Jose Sharks and Golden State Warriors while also rooting for both sides of the Bay: the San Francisco 49ers and Giants and the Oakland Raiders and A's — before they left town. In today's Bay Area, where teams have moved, names have changed, and loyalties have been tested, Jeff proudly considers himself a dying breed. His sports memories, experiences, and observations have provided plenty of material for his writing—and probably more than a few arguments with friends.

But sports are only part of Jeff's literary playground. He writes fiction and nonfiction, has dabbled in puzzle books, and even created what may very well be the first-ever CrossSearch book, combining the challenge of a crossword puzzle with the hunt of a word search. His writing also reflects another important part of his life: his faith. Jeff has published six faith-based books in recent years, including two children's books, exploring stories and ideas designed to entertain, encourage, and inspire readers of all ages.

With a growing collection of books that ranges from sports and puzzles to fiction, nonfiction, children's stories, and faith, Jeff doesn't seem particularly interested in being confined to one literary lane. After more than three decades of professional writing, retirement simply gave him more time to do what he has always enjoyed—write. And judging by the variety of stories still bouncing around in his head, he isn't planning to stop anytime soon. All of Jeff Wagner's books are available on Amazon.

When he isn’t writing, you might find him playing the drums, riding his bike, hiking a trail, swimming, getting lost in a good book, or watching just about any sport that involves a scoreboard. Or simply enjoying his blessed life with his wife, Amy, and their dog, Lacey.
