Dave McFaul

I am a scholar and philosopher whose research traverses diverse disciplines within political philosophy and ethics, with a particular focus on the intersections of ideology and human experience. My work reflects a sustained engagement with the evolution of political and ethical thought, mapping how belief systems shape both personal and collective lives.

My early publication, A History of the Ideologies of the Welfare State (2019), examined the political positions that have influenced welfare policies over time. In The Cambridge School of the History of Political Philosophy (2020), I explored the lineage of republican thought within the broader tradition of political philosophy. My interest in democratic theory found expression in Public Choice vs. Deliberative Democracy (2021), where I contrasted economic and political approaches to collective decision-making.

With Nietzschean Politics (2022), I investigated Nietzsche’s influence on modern political discourse, particularly in the context of contemporary issues such as misinformation. More recently, my scholarship has turned toward virtue theory, resulting in two volumes: Metaethics of Virtue (2023) and Virtue Epistemology and Polarization (2023), both exploring the foundations and social implications of virtues in the modern world. My forthcoming works, Postmodern Simulacra ~□(◊◊α→α) (2025) and Evil! (2025), continue to push the boundaries of philosophical inquiry.

Through these publications, I strive to provoke thoughtful reconsideration of established assumptions, challenge prevailing perspectives, and open pathways to ethical and existential exploration. My overarching goal is to inspire individuals to transcend limiting paradigms and envision new avenues for understanding and engagement.
