Nelson Hendler, MD, MS

Nelson Hendler, MD, MS is a cum laude graduate of Princeton University, where he also played varsity lacrosse. He received his MD and MS in neurophysiology from University of Maryland School of Maryland, and did his residency in psychiatry at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He then became a full time and later part-time faculty member at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he was assistant professor of neurosurgery for 31 years. He has written 4 books, 34 medical textbook chapters, and 67 medical journal articles. He has served as the president of the American Academy of Pain Management, and the Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Association of America. He has lectured at over 50 medical schools and hospitals in the United States, including Mayo Clinic, Cornell, Uni. of Chicago, New Jersey College of Medicine, University of Maryland, and Johns Hopkins Hospital, and lectured in Norway, Canada, Argentina, Venezuela, Israel, Saudi Arabia, India, The Philippines, and Japan. He has testified before the United States Senate on medical issues for Senator Edward Kennedy, Senator Barbara Mikulski, and Senator Howard Metzenbaum.
