Robert Patten

After 25 years as a practicing lawyer in his home town of London, England, Bob Patten needed a new challenge, so he went into conservative politics. This was a bad move because, when he ran for office at city, county and national level, he lost every time. This constant rejection by the voters was leading to a serious midlife crisis, from which he was mercifully rescued by Pat who, at the time, was serving in the US Navy at the Grosvenor Square office in London. Bob became her GI bridegroom, and they settled in America where he became a US citizen. They have three daughters and are still married after 37 years, spending their retirement in sunny Florida. They have gone on numerous travel adventures and share their passion for history and travel on their blog, Here and There With Pat and Bob. In America, Bob worked in the mortgage industry but denies any blame for the crash of 2008, an event which led to his retirement. In old age, he was spending too much time playing chess, watching English soccer on TV and losing money on the stock market. He therefore turned to writing and this, his first novel, is being published as he turns 80. Depending on the reviews, he threatens to write more novels.
