I've been a keyboard botherer as long as I can remember. My father's typewriter was the first victim. After that, no object capable of transferring words to paper was safe. There was a slight hiatus when typewriter design went electric but with the advent of word processing, I was back on course and raring to go. Academic writing soon gave way to speech-writing which in turn was replaced by PR spin-text and ghost-writing. Freelance journalism had loitered in the background providing me with beer money since I was sixteen. Journalism and a glut of great material from my time as a trader on the UK country show circuit inevitably led to writing my own stories of which Flogging The Field is the first.
