Tilly Walnes

Tilly Walnes is on a mission to inspire more people to make their own clothes. She is the founder of the award-winning sewing company Tilly and the Buttons, known for its gorgeous patterns, crystal clear instructions and encouraging approach to DIY dressmaking.

Her first book, Love at First Stitch, was a Sunday Times bestseller, published in ten international editions. Her second book, Stretch!, was named 'Best Book' at the British Sewing Awards and 'Sewing Product of the Year' at the British Craft Awards. Her third book, Make It Simple, is published in February 2020.

The Tilly and the Buttons blog, started in 2010, has been read over 17 million times by nearly 5 million people around the world. Tilly appeared on the first series of BBC2’s The Great British Sewing Bee in 2013, and has been named 'Sewing Designer of the Year' at the British Craft Awards' and 'Favourite Sewing Personality' in the British Sewing Awards.
