Has anybody out there written a book unintentionally? Well that was me!
Gettin' Poetic came about purely because of the anaesthetic, and for an awful lot of people it can be really disagreeable. For me- it made me philosophical, reflective and urged me to write. Anyone out there in need of some reading material to take into hospital would definitely enjoy reading my book, I guarantee it will put a smile on your face!
I was born in the Suffolk town of Lowestoft, England and raised in the neighbouring county of Essex, in a village called Tiptree , renowned for it's world famous Wilkin & Sons Jam. Like Ed Sheeran, another Suffolk lad, I valued my youth years and write about growing up in one enormous playground. Tiptree became my 'Castle On The Hill'. Childhood years are so precious and even though my dad left when I was around eight years old I still considered my childhood to be a good one. Eventually my mum found love again and my stepfather Clifford became the father I always dreamed of. I actually changed my surname to his when I was 16. He was a Barnardo's child, a ball boy at Wimbledon in the 50s, and always thought his name was given to him by the Barnardo's Foundation. It was only in recent years we found out Sainsbury was infact his real name!
One of my most favorite things to do, is people watch. Sit me down on a chair outside a cafe with a nice cup of coffee and I can watch the world go by. You can have endless fun guessing what people do for a living, what there preferences are, sexual orientation, just about anything. I wrote my book based on observation, life experiences and being honest. Dickens(my favorite author) made it an art form. The in depth scrutiny and how he described people was genius and I would love to be able to write like that.
