Michael A. Battey

Michael A. Battey, D.P.M. was born and raised in Rhode Island. He received degrees from the University of Rhode Island, and the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. He maintains a private practice in foot and ankle care with a specialty in hospital based residency training, and is a faculty member at the Brown University Alpert Medical School.

The Parent Trap Columns book (Vol. 1) is based on 8 years of writing columns in the local newspaper, the East Greenwich Pendulum, and sister newspapers in the Southern Rhode Island Newspaper Group. From 2005 to 2012, he provided advice - and humor - on the topic of raising children - particularly adolescents - for baby boomer parents. The columns reflect the author’s personal experience along with commentary on parenting trends, and public education.

His interests include local education, squash racquets, and time at the beach with family and friends. Dr. Battey is married to Susan Marie Plante Battey, and they are the parents of three - Alexa, Michael, and Jordan.

This is the first of a two (or more!) book series, contains many of the columns he wrote over 8 years, as well as advice and experiences over many more, in child-raising. It was published in 2017.
