Larry Thompson

Larry Thompson grew up in El Paso, Texas. He lived an almost normal life, barely escaping being labelled a juvenile delinquent. He and his brother lived with his father and mother on the Fort Bliss Army installation. His father was an Army NCO, and his mother was a government civil servant. The family lived in Europe for three years, while his father was stationed there, before returning to Texas. He graduated from Kaiserslautern American High School in Germany. Thompson graduated from Texas A&M University at Kingsville, served in the Army before leaving to become a teacher. He retired from teaching after 23 years and took up writing and pottery as hobbies.

He credits his interest in writing to the influence of Robert Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, Robert Ludlum, Tom Clancy, Mark Greany, David Baldacci, Brad Thor, Robert Jordan, Ernest Hemmingway, and James Faulkner. He admits that Shakespeare may have influenced him in some way, and maybe Samuel Taylor Coleridge and John Milton.
