Tim Craig

Tim Craig is a writer and editor based in Ashiya, Japan. A native of Indiana, Tim washed up on Japan’s shores in search of adventure in 1970, and has since then split his time among the US, Canada, and Japan. In Japan, he developed twin interests in business and Japanese pop culture, which led to master’s degrees in East Asian Studies (Indiana University) and International Management (Thunderbird) and a Ph.D. in International Business and Business Strategy (University of Washington). He has twenty-plus years of teaching and research experience at the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business at University of Victoria and Doshisha Business School in Kyoto, and is the author of Japan Pop! Inside the World of Japanese Popular Culture (M.E. Sharpe, 2000), Global Goes Local: Popular Culture in Asia (with Richard King, UBC Press, 2002), and Cool Japan: Case Studies from Japan’s Cultural and Creative Industries (BlueSky Publishing, 2017). Tim is founder and chief editor of BlueSky Academic Services (www.blueskyacademic.net), and rhythm guitarist and lead singer for the Osaka-based Zen Brothers band.
