Juilee Decker

Juilee Decker, Ph.D. is professor of history and Director of the Museum Studies and Public History program at Rochester Institute of Technology (Rochester, NY). Since 2008, Decker has served as editor of "Collections: A Journal for Museum and Archives Professionals", a peer-reviewed journal published by SAGE. Her revision of "Museums in Motion: An Introduction to the History and Functions of Museums" (2017) propels one of the field’s standards into the 21st century with closer consideration to the digital, empathy, advocacy, and the broader landscape of museums as educational institutions that foster community. Decker's biography of sculptor Enid Yandell (1869-1934) was published in October 2019 by the University Press of Kentucky in celebration of the artist's 150th birthday. Her edited volume, "Fallen Monuments and Contested Memorials" was published by Routledge in 2023. She has curated numerous exhibitions and public history experiences and has developed many public-facing digital projects. She earned her Ph.D. from the joint program in Art History and Museum Studies at Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Museum of Art.
