I'm a Clinical Psychologist interested in compassion. For many years i've been working with Professor Paul Gilbert (the developer of Compassion Focused Therapy - CFT) and other colleagues to find way to help people be more compassioante with themselves (often known as self-compassion) and more compassionate with others.

I work mostly in London having set up a organisation called Balanced Minds (www.balancedminds.com) which provides teaching, training, groups and individual therapy to help people develop their 'compassionate mind'. I'm hoping that my books will be another way of helping people access ideas about how and why life can be hard, how our brains can sometimes add extra distress to the struggles we encounter in life, and how compassion can be a powerful way to help oureslves (and others) to manage difficulties when they arise.
