I was not a tech person, journalist or writer, when I went to the library to find our local Native history.
I saw a great gaping black hole that no one talked about. I searched high and low for 3 months finding nothing to speak of.
I realized this history had not been written. That it was inaccessible and hidden. I determined to find the truth, decipher the truth, record and share it. I became a research historian and writer, digging up, collecting the pieces, scattered, lost to time, name changes of waterways, peoples and places, boundaries and governments.
It is a complex and difficult history to find, leading one ever deeper on a journey of 3 years to fully understand all that is involved. Which is the very core of American history, Canadian history, The Northwest Territory, Michigan history and Anishinabe history. One must study over 20 tribes connected to the area, the French, British and Spanish history, Ontario, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and many other states history connected to the great melting pot that is Michigan.
It is unsettling to learn the truth, to know the people and will change everything we previously thought we knew and believed about Michigan and Indigenous history.
I have learned way more than I ever wanted to know about American History, war, computers, writing, and publishing.
The in depth research is extraordinary and incredible. This groundbreaking research clarifies and reveals the true history of Great Lakes Native Americans.
It is my pleasure to share this work in one volume!
