Maxine Grey’s writing career started almost by accident when she entered a horror flash fiction contest expecting no response in November 2016 with a short story of fewer than 700 words which then received the most public votes and won an award.
Inspired, Maxine continued with her short story writing and had three of her horror short stories accepted by different publishers on the first submission. These shorts can be found in Demonic Wildlife, Demonic Household and Welcome to Cottonwood Creek Anthologies all available in ebook and paperback.
Maxine was born in the North East of England then moved and lived for many years in Australia. For over twenty-five years she had a busy successful career in advertising, copywriting, print media, radio, job coaching, recruitment and Human Resources at Senior Management level. She worked in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and was headhunted to work in Ireland also.
Unfortunately a serious back injury brought this much loved career to a halt and other very serious health issues became a hurdle also. At this point Maxine relocated back home to the UK. Being disabled was not going to put her off for long.
Refusing to be deterred, Maxine established her own book publicity company literally from her bed and in her first week had 20 clients who already knew her from her solid reputation as a Top Book Reviewer. Booklover Catlady Publicity went on to help hundreds of independent and best-selling authors with varied aspects of book publicity, from book launch events, all social media marketing, book tours, garnering book reviews and much more. Many of these Authors are now world wide names and many with movies made from their books. The business was put on hold in 2018 but there are plans to revive it as it was so successful.
Maxine is an avid book reader and reviewer and reviews under the name of Booklover Catlady, she is a proud Amazon Top 500 and Goodreads Top 50 All-Time Reviewer and has a loyal following on Goodreads. She also reviews for NetGalley, publishers and authors directly.
She reads many genres of books and doesn't intend to be pigeon-holed into being a "one-genre author". In the pipeline is a vigilante crime novel, an illustrated children’s book series and a non-fiction book.
She is passionate about connecting with readers and book lovers all around the world and you will find her to be highly approachable and keen to help others reach their goals. She resides in the North East of England with her family and two naughty cats.
