Michael McHenry

Michael McHenry (1982-) was born in Houston, TX to James and Cinda. Michael began his career in writing, film, and television in the award winning docu-drama, Last Shot With Judge Gunn, winning his first Emmy in 2012. Afterwards, he decided to pursue his own writing and filmmaking, his first project being the short film, Best Friends Forever.

He is a nomad of the South who began his love of fantasy, horror, and sci-fi 20 years ago with a tattered manuscript called Dragonlance Chronicles, Dean Koontz’s “Midnight,” and a small party of D&D warriors he journeyed with while in high school. He left an amazing career in law enforcement in 2012 after winning an Emmy for his help on a syndicated program. This was the catalyst to his creative arts career, now working on several indie short films, old-school RPG game projects, short stories, audiobook productions…and (somehow) his PhD.

His newest and most ambitious project, Gathering Storm Magazine, is co-founded with his mother, Cinda. Every submission must adhere to the current themes, which are always an old saying, maxim, or proverb we have all grown up with.
