Born in Liverpool, England and raised in Melbourne Australia, Rich has three overwhelming passions... Travel, Sport and Writing. Yes, there are more, for instance he loves his family, has a love of films, loves cats, loves cooking... but it’s a passion for sport, travel and writing which makes him tick. Everton Football Club means so much to him that his very mood fluctuates with success or failure. Lose a derby and he's grumpy for days. But those times when he is up at 4am watching a game live from Goodison with his equally devoted Evertonian dad and Cahill puts home a rocket at the Gwladys Street End... that’s what joy is all about. Which leads to his next passion – travel. As important as sport, he's made travel a huge part of his life. Catching anacondas and piranhas in Venezuela, scuba diving in Fiji, buying an electronic dancing penguin in Tokyo’s ‘electric city’, Akihabara, freezing his nuts off at the Arctic circle, Rio’s crazy all-night street parties during Carnival, climbing through Austria’s Eisriesenwelt caves, chilling on Colombia’s pristine Rosario Islands, being there for the opening week of Shanghai Disney, dropped by helicopter on a Canadian mountaintop and crunching through Moscow’s snowy Red Square have been some of his highlights so far. And finally his third passion. Writing. The fun of creating a world from scratch that only you’ve been to. Populated by characters born in your mind, going on adventures that defy belief. Worlds unfettered by constraints of reality, worlds where anything at all can happen.
