Johnny Cordero

Born in the public housing poverty of Puerto Rico, Johnny Cordero flunked out of school but came to cherish learning. While growing up around drug addicts and criminals and muscling up to be a Golden Gloves boxer, he devoured cast-off books and was inspired by his self-sacrificing mother to create his own renaissance. Mr. Cordero drove himself to become an operatic tenor, song composer, actor, environmental specialist, and entrepreneur. His song Mundo en Silencio has won multiple awards; he has acted in theatre, television and had his own radio show at the tender age of 12. More recently he founded an alternative high school and invented the My Wearable Gym. Now he has completed a book, I Fought the Law … and I Won! about how he scrambled to be a good international father, relying on the same gutsy grit that drove his career successes. His book was awarded Gold Medal at the United Nations IPEH World Congress, October 6, 2017.
