Dutchman Django Mathijsen is the son of professional musicians. He worked as a jazz-organist as a teenager and while studying engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology, where he graduated in 1993.
He was a technical consultant on the award winning British TV-programs Robot Wars and TechnoGames. And, combining music and technology, he wrote a book about the Hammond-organ, which was serialized in a Dutch music magazine. As a science journalist and editor, he’s subsequently written hundreds of articles in English and Dutch magazines.
He now concentrates mainly on composing music, and writing fiction: in all genres, for all age groups, and from flash fiction to novels. Science fiction is his specialty: he has won more Dutch science fiction and fantasy awards for his short stories than any other writer, including:
3x Unleash Award
3x Trek Sagae
2x NCSF-prize
1x Grote Brugse Boekhandel Fantasy Award
He also collaborates with Anaïd Haen (an award winning Dutch writer in her own right) on many stories. They were a finalist at Writers of the Future with a co-written story. And they've written lots of children's books in Dutch. For example for readers of ten and older they wrote De Raketwedstrijd (published by DeVierWindstreken) and Hersenhack (published by Uitgeverij EigenZinnig). Django's and Anaïd's stories and novels at Amazon are also mainly in Dutch, but you will be able to find a few in English.
