Anja Schubert

Dr Anja Schubert grew up in a small Austrian town tucked between the Alps and the dark forests that shaped her early love of strange, twisty stories. After migrating to Australia, she buried herself in books, physics, and engineering before eventually finding her way into scientific software development.

Only later in life did Anja discover she is autistic, a realisation that finally explained her unique and quirky way of experiencing the world. That personal point of view is reflected deeply in all her characters, from the crime fighting kids of Butts and Mutts to the female detective turned werewolf in Murder with Bite.

When she’s not building scientific tools or plotting fictional crimes, Anja indulges her eclectic pastimes: scuba diving, lumberjacking, cooking experiments, Christmas crafts, and the occasional over engineered party plan.
