Steven "Blast" Halteman

Steven “Blast” Halteman is currently a Jury Consultant and Trial Strategist, and the co-author of a book on legal strategy. In his personal life, he is an avid adventurer, traveling the world seeking new horizons and blogging about them at, “Stories From Steve.” (http://www.storiesfromsteve.org)

Halteman’s career history is decidedly eclectic and unorthodox. He’s been, among other things, a house designer, college professor, wilderness skills instructor, night court judge, bartender, roofer, cabinet maker and lumberjack.

Always a fervent hiker and a lover of history, he has spent much of his life exploring more than 100 countries by walking, hitching, backpacking, riding his bike, using public transportation or meandering by boat. Occasionally, he has settled down and called a number of countries home, including Turkey, Japan, and Costa Rica

Once a competitive runner, he has completed multiple marathons and a couple of ultramarathons. These days, he enjoys taking life more slowly, savoring the small details in the world around him, and indulging his new-found interest in thru-hiking. This book, “The Death Q,” is the result of that desire.

Halteman hiked the entire Pacific Crest Trail, starting in Mexico and finishing at the Canadian border on his 50th birthday. Over the years, he has completed multiple overseas long-distance hiking trails. In 2018, Halteman will attempt the 2,700-mile Continental Divide Trail from Mexico to Canada through the middle of the United States.

He has a teenage daughter, whom he is relentlessly trying to convince to hike the Appalachian Trail with him. A project without success so far.

Halteman recently relocated from Costa Rica and settled in California. He is working on his third book, a novel.
