Johnny Mays

Johnny Mays was born in 1944 and lived in a community called Woods Creek, near Hamilton, Alabama. He joins the Air Force in 1962 and after tours in Okinawa and Vietnam in 1966 he was Honorably Discharged in California. This is the same time he began performing music in saloons. In 1973 he was playing guitar in the Merle Haggard Road Show. This is where he found the Gideon Bible in a hotel room in Salem, Oregon. His heart was filled with faith and he would answer the call to the ministry.

His ministry of forty-seven years has taken him to over thirty nations and every state in America. He ministered extensively in Russia, London and Northern Ireland. He started four churches during this time. He also served seven years as a city councilman and was elected as the 26th Mayor of Dos Palos California in 2013. In 2009 he published his first book The Achilles Heel of God. His recent book Leaving Woods Creek is just released.

Today he pastor's a small community church with his wife Judy, a school teacher in Royal Oaks, Monterey County, California. They raised a large family of five boys and a daughter. Now there are many grandchildren and great grandchildren to love. Johnny is known by his friends as a storyteller.
