Sai Loo

Sai Loo (PhD, MA, BSc, FHEA, ACA, FETC) is an author, consultant, editor, keynote speaker, presenter, researcher, and thought leader. He is an academic at the Institute of Education, UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society, University College London. Before joining UCL, he taught accounting and finance at higher education institutions, including undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional programmes, as well as vocational areas in further education. Before becoming a teacher, Sai worked as a Chartered Accountant in the industry. He is an expert in Occupational Education (OE), a field he created as a new area of education. He takes an interdisciplinary approach to vocationally oriented education of work, teaching, and learning settings. His research projects and publications have focused on the further and higher education sectors and professional education, including teacher education (teacher educators and teachers) and professional practices in work-related settings of the digital economy and clinical disciplines. He has published widely in over 160 publications, conference papers, and keynotes (80 per cent are single-authored). Reflective Practice in (Further) Education to be published by Springer Nature, will be his tenth research monograph. His follow-up monograph is Reflective Practice for Education: Perspectives from Therapists with Educational Experiences. He is editing a book series with the working title ‘Global Perspectives of Further Education: Pedagogy, Programmes and Policy’.
