In 1970, while a junior in high school traveling to Italy on a student tour, I became enamored with everything about the country, my family’s ancestral home. Returning to Italy and Sicily became my life-long mission, my passion, a place I'd go for enjoyment, for respite, a place to grieve, and a place to learn to ride horses. Not of wealth, I found ways to get there, sometimes staying for months at a time in a variety of different accommodations throughout many of the country’s regions. It wasn’t until I retired that my memories were written down.
My first book, "My Love Affair With Italy," covers the many trips over the decades and has won me three literary awards: Reader Views in 2017-2018 in Travel, ELIT 2018 in Memoir, and Readers’ Favorite 2018 in Travel. My newest book, "The Fairytale," completes the trilogy that began 52 years ago and includes destinations in England as well.
Unlike many travel books, "My Love Affair With Italy" and "The Fairytale" are memoirs that take place in Italy, Sicily, and England, and are as much about the countries and people we are exploring as it is about everyday challenges with family, friends, and significant others.
I am an Italian American from New Jersey with a B.S. from Montclair State and a master’s in accounting from the University of Phoenix
