Kim is an author, adjunct professor, business owner and a peer-to-peer (P2P) lending and equity based crowdfunding pioneer and expert which spans regulatory and compliance, digital assets, blockchain, tokenization, and smart contracts.
Kim is a certified National Association of Corporate Director (NACD)®, equipped with the foundation of knowledge to effectively contribute in the boardroom, she has served as a member of the Audit Committee, Compensation and Benefits Committee, Risk Committee, and Investment Committee on public and private boards.
Her recommendations to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission were cited over 100 times in the Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act 2012 (JOBS Act) final rules adopted in the United States that covered Title II - General Solicitation & Advertising, Title III - Regulation Crowdfunding, and Title IV – Small Company Capital Formation - Regulation A+.
As a change agent, Kim's work has helped to influence and shape the policy and regulatory frameworks for the Office of Securities Commission in Canada (OSC) (2014), the European Commission’s first European Green Paper (2013) – “Building a Capital Markets Union,” the Taiwan Supervisory Commission (2015), Australian Stock Exchange (2015/16) and the Bermuda Monetary Authority - ICO Consultation Memo and Amendment Bill (2018).
From 1995 - 2011, was the founder of a boutique consulting firm with a portfolio of work that spanned implementing regulatory frameworks, and post M &A consolidations and business restructuring that realized cost efficiencies for the combined entities.
Areas of focus included enterprise market data and derivative exchanges, cash management and treasury solutions, fund administration ($100B), personal and corporate trust, Sarbanes Oxley, and Basel II Pillar I. Clients included the Bank of N.T. Butterfield & Son Limited – nine offshore jurisdictions, Morgan Stanley, Chase Manhattan Bank, Prudential Insurance, Depository Trust & Clearing Corp., Securities Industry Automation Corporation, and others.
