Chris Gibson

Chris Gibson is a writer and analyst. He is the author of three books, The Spirit of Philadelphia (2025), Rally Point (2017) and Securing the State (2008). He has also published numerous scholarly journal articles, opinion pieces, a book review and a chapter in an edited book. As an analyst, he has appeared on Fox, Newsmax, C-Span, PBS, NPR, among other national and regional media outlets.

Gibson is a 29-year veteran of the military, initially enlisting at the age of 17 as a Private in the NY Army National Guard, ultimately rising to the rank of Colonel in the Regular Army, serving as the Commander of the 2nd Brigade of the 82nd Airborne Division in his final assignment before retiring in 2010. Gibson earned 4 Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, CIB, Master Parachutist Badge and the Ranger Tab.

Gibson served as a Member of Congress representing upstate NY from 2011-2017, with committee assignments on Armed Services, Agriculture and Small Business. His distinguished congressional service was recognized by the Lugar Center in 2014 when he finished #1 in the country in the House of Representatives in their inaugural report on bipartisanship and statesmanship. After three terms in the US House, Gibson self-imposed term limits and moved to academia.

In academia, he served as a professor at West Point, Williams College and Siena College, where he was also the 12th President. Gibson was also a National Security Affairs Fellow with the Hoover Institution. He earned his BA from Siena College and an MPA, MA and PhD from Cornell University.
